SUP WITH RUBY AND WHERE SHE BEEN

WHOA. look who’s back from hiatus, this girl. i haven’t blogged for a long ass time, and that’s because i’ve been on a serious no-buy for the past few months. the spending was getting out of control and girl had to reel that shit in. blogging faded gracefully into the background because truthfully, i didn’t want to be someone pushing products when i was trying not to buy them myself. i’ve sinced refocused my hobbies to reading finance books and excessively checking my online banking (evil creditors!) but have now decided that hey, just because i’m not buying products anymore doesn’t mean i can’t shop my own stash. and it certainly doesn’t mean that when someone runs out of lip balm or mascara they’re not going to repurchase and want to know what the best one to buy is? oh, sup run on sentences. anywho, i want you all to know, all three of you actually, that i still harbour love for cosmetics and am back with a vengeance… in the most non-violent of ways. i care about you and what you put on your face (and in your hair sort of) and i want to be a part of that. in conclusion, adult acne is real. thank you.

teddy’s vitamins and supplements!
hey guys! as mentioned in my new years resolution post; i have started to include a variety of supplements into my beauty/health routine. here’s a list of what I take on the daily:
platinum easymulti - daily multivitamin with added omega 3 & 6 and 1000 IU of vitamin D.
sisu vitamin D - 1000 IU/day (in total i consume 2000 IU of vitamin D) - probably won’t take these in the summer time due to increased sun exposure.
NOW biotin - between 3000 - 5000 mcg every day. it’s more than recommended, but i have seen dramatic results in the growth rate of my hair!
nutra sea 2X concentrated omega 3 supplement - the best fish oil on the market, natural and ultra-pure. great for hair, nails and skin, as well as overall health!
i’ve contemplated including a B-Complex or a B-12 into the mix, but for now these are doing the trick!

The New Thing – Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream

I was in the market for a new night time moisturizer. Nearing the end of my First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, I went in search to replace it but it was sold out everywhere! Such a shame! That moisturizer doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, but it is great for sensitive skin and gets the job done all for $15 CAD (for 2.0 oz). Sadly nothing else is as close in price point that delivers similar results. I didn’t want anything too greasy or too absorbent, so I found myself in a bit of a pickle. Then I remembered reading about how great Kate Somerville’s products are and then I saw the Goat Milk Cream. Sephora says “Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream calms and rejuvenates sensitive, dry, and combination skin, absorbing quickly with no oily residue left behind. It offers optimum moisture, balance, and overall well-being for a naturally healthy complexion.” This sold me. Love everything except the price. $68 CAD for 1.7 oz. Not exactly good value for money.

RUBY’S HALL OF FAME - STILA “CAMELLIA” CONVERTIBLE COMPACT
this is absolutely the pale girls answer to a bronzer. it’s technically a blush, but can be used as a contour OR an all over boost of colour. it’s completely natural looking and devoid of any orange tones and it’s a cream, so it gives that perfect dewy (but not too dewy) radiance in the winter. it’s a really special feeling knowing you can walk our your front door not looking like a close relative of edward scissorhands.
thanks stila!

TEDDY’S HALL OF FAME - NARS LAGUNA BRONZER
i am what you would call a “bronzer addict”. my skin tends to turn a lovely shade of GREEN in the winter (not cute). i have dabbled with different bronzers through the years (NYC, benefit, too faced, bobbi brown) but always come back to this one. i think i have had it in my makeup collection for 7 years. it is the perfect shade (not too orange or muddy), texture (not too shimmery or matte) and formula (easy to blend). not only do i always have one in my collection, i also keep a mini version in my makeup bag at all times! the only downside is that it has a tendency to crack once you hit pan and it is $40 CAD. dear nars – if you are reading this – please change the packaging! overall this is the best bronzer of all time.
thank you.

TEDDY’S HALL OF FAME - INDEED LABS HYDRALURON
as some of you  know, i have been on quite the skincare kick as of late. i have really changed the way i treat my skin and thus far, the results have been incredible. now i have not found a cure for acne or the scars that come a long with them, but i have transformed the texture and condition of my skin. i credit a lot of this to the newest addition to my skincare army, hydraluron by indeed labs. i found out about this product from Caroline Heirons (www.beautymouth.com) aka the goddess of skincare. check out her blog - you will not regret it.
here is a description of the product from indeed labs’ site:
Hydraluron is inspired by injectable hydration and plumping treatments employed in Swiss clinics.Hydraluron uniquely combines the world’s purest hyaluronic acid and a bio-engineered strain of red marine algae causing a controlled increase in blood circulation. This increased circulation optimizes the penetration of the small particles of hyaluronic acid into the key deep layers of the skin and refill spaces formed through the aging process and improve skin structure.
i use this product morning and night after cleansing and toning and before serum (only at night) and moisturizer.
this product has restored the balance in my skin. by providing adequate levels of hydration, i find i now produce less oil throughout the day which leaves my makeup lasting longer and looking better.
the best part is that this is only $24.99 at shoppers drug mart! sure beats the 100+ dollars i have spent on serums in the past.
i highly recommend this for anyone with oily/dry/dehydrated skin.

TEDDY’S BEAUTY RESOLUTIONS!

it’s 2013 which means it is time to make some rezzies. here’s a list of things i vow to try and do for 2013 (beauty style of course):

1. take better care of my hair. after my big cut (5 inches!) i’m trying my best to keep my hair in tip top condition. resolution is to not use my beloved flat iron as much, which is super hard for me. i am also trying to limit my curling iron to once a week. wish me luck!

2. supplements. take these religiously! right now i am taking 4000 mg of wild salmon and fish oil (hair, nails and skin) and 5000 mcg of biotin (hair and nails). eventually i think i will trade the biotin in for a B complex. p.s. - biotin is also good for promoting hair growth!

3. unclutter my stash. use up half empty bottles/throw away shit i will never use/don’t repurchase until i am out of that current product. i.e. don’t buy shampoo until i am out of shampoo!  this doesn’t work across all areas of my routine (i’m a professional foundation rotator). i always need a revlon colourstay in my collection or i  have anxiety attacks.

4. wash my brushes! this one i really need to do more frequently. it is gross and makeup does not apply as well if your brushes are dirty. also, dirty brushes = dirty cosmetics and a dirty face!

5. wash my face every night. no exceptions. i am pretty good about this and usually only forget/am too tired/drunk about once a month. bioderma does not count as face washing!

that’s it. okay bye!

obsessed with this. how to look fresh and contoured and what you need to do it!  c/o into the gloss.

TEDDY’S TIP!
if you have oily skin/makeup does not last on your shayna punim, try using a setting spray. urban decay has teamed up with skindinavia to create a line of setting sprays suited to different skin types!
de-slick: oily skin
all nighter: 16 hour wear
dew me: for dry skin
note that these need a good shake!
i layer the sprays before and after i apply my makeup for  best results!
can be purchased at sephora in canada.
enjoy!
