So the lady at Origins suggested that I try an alternative to GinZing called “A Perfect World for Eyes”, which I was doubtful about because of a number of negative reviews on Makeup Alley. I picked it up anyway because my eyelids felt so satiny afterwards, and I loved the smell of it. As an experiment, I’ve been using APW on one eye and Zing on the other (‘cause I’m crazy like that), and the results have been, if you’ll excuse the pun, rather eye opening! Between the two I see very little difference in terms of eye brightening, the Zing very slightly edging out APW, but where I have noticed an enormous change is in the firming action of the APW! I didn’t even realize that my eyelids had started drooping until I put this on, and noticed that the Zing lid looked positively sleepy in comparison. I also find that the texture of the APW lid looks smoother and far less shiny, and my MAC paint pot slides on beautifully. I guess it all comes down to what you want the product to do. My eyelids are naturally very dark, so most “brightening” creams do very little for me, and the Zing didn’t do enough brightening to outweigh the firming and smoothing benefits of A Perfect World. If you don’t need firming, save yourself $5 and stick with the Zing. But in my case, it looks like I have a new favourite eye cream :)
